We are Theresa and Martin Veilleux. (You can call him Marty, if you would like; we pronounce our last name “vuh-lew”.) In 2017, after many years in the business world, our schedules allowed us to own and properly care for a dog. We wanted a breed that was fun, energetic, highly trainable, comfortable outdoors as well as in the house, friendly, moderate in size and did not shed heavily. We decided on Brittanys for all those reasons and more. We also chose to start with two dogs: Rowdy and Coco.

Rowdy was the pick of the male litter from Hope’s Kennel in New Jersey. Three weeks later we selected Coco as pick of the female liver and white litter sired by the legendary field dog NGDC NAGDC FC AFC Peter Gunn from Carter Brittany Kennels in Georgia. Over the next two years we learned how to raise puppies, train fundamentals, run bird dogs in the field, show a dog in conformation events, handle dogs in field trials and hunt tests, train for and compete in agility trials and we dabbled in AKC rally events.

We loved our first two Brittanys so much we added our third, Stella, from KaLa’s Brittanys in Michigan in 2019. Stella has been an awesome addition. She combines the best attributes of Rowdy and Coco plus she is always happy and tons of fun.

We added Buzz, our fourth Brittany, in late 2020. Buzz is Stella’s littermate. He loves to be trained and he thrives on interaction. Stella is his best friend but, for Buzz, nothing beats a run in the woods or a day in the field.

In early 2022, we mated Coco with Rowdy. The litter was whelped in March. We kept Darci, a liver and white female with an ideal mix of traits from Rowdy and Coco. We used our experience with our four older dogs to train Darci in the basics of being a good dog and also introduced her to field, agility, rally and obedience at a sensibly early age. In January 2024, Darci won the American Brittany Club 2024 futurity for the Central USA, as she placed first in the Gundog field trial and was second-money female in the conformation show. An amazing experience for all of us!

In 2024, we mated Stella with Rowdy. The litter was whelped in April. After thoughtfully observing and interacting with the litter we decided to keep Leo. He is a handsome orange and white pup that is a blend of Rowdy and Stella. Leo’s appearance leans slightly toward Rowdy while in disposition he is similar to his super sweet momma, Stella. We love Leo’s adventurous and energetic personality. We look forward to helping him develop in all aspects of an active and well-trained Brittany.

Bucktail is the traditional name of the farm in Maryland where we train and exercise our dogs.
